Double Take is a brand new series that invites artists from across the country to premiere unique collaborative performances. Each pairing features original works by both artists and a set of duet performances, creating space for new innovations, arresting improvisations and a moment to “trade” melodic ideas, in the spirit of the jazz idiom. The Loft transforms into a jazz club with a relaxed atmosphere, welcoming you to kick back and relax and let the magic unfold.

James Sherlock is one of Australia’s leading jazz guitarists. Winner of the Ike Isaacs International Jazz Guitar Award, he has worked with artists such as Leroy Jones, Sheila Jordan, Cyrille Aimee, Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts, The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Kate Ceberano and Katie Noonan. His studio work includes the Bell Award winning collaborations with Kristin Berardi and Elly Hoyt, and his six-album solo discography has led to international performances including Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland) and Trostberg Jazz Festival (Germany).
Representing the West Coast, we welcome Sorcha Alberquerque. Making her Stonnington Jazz debut, the accomplished guitarist and WAAPA Graduate has performed alongside artists such as John Harkins, Dale Barlow, Paul Williamson, Ingrid & Christine Jenson, Silke Eberhard, Peter Bernstein and more. Her compositions are featured on two ABC Jazz releases including ‘Jazztrack’ – Celebrating 40 years, and ‘Jazz calls – the best of Australian Jazz 2017’.
