For one special evening two of Australia’s most exciting Ethiopian jazz ensembles transport you on an international jazz journey. Dance all night to hypnotic African-influenced grooves.
The Black Jesus Experience performs an irresistibly danceable blend of traditional Ethiopian song with 21st century groove, hip-hop and funk. The eight-piece ensemble have toured internationally including appearances at Glastonbury Festival and collaborated with the father of Ethio-Jazz Mulatu Astatke for their recent album Cradle of Humanity.
Papa Chango deliver subterranean trance-like movements of afro-funk mashed-up with psychedelic guitar lines and scatterings of broken brass. Featuring their newest member Nat Grant on vibraphone and percussion, the band let their Ethio-Jazz influences take hold on their new album Lost Moon of Bellaris that explores the darkness of space and the lightness of life.
