ABOUT STONNINGTON JAZZ 2011
Stonnington Jazz now in it's 6th year of presenting 100% Australian jazz, and is firmly established as an important event on the national jazz calendar.
We have established a strong track record of presenting memorable performances from a variety of Australian artists based in Melbourne, interstate and internationally, both established names and those in the early stages of their careers, and across a pleasingly wide range of jazz styles.
This year’s program will match the standard set over the last four years. Favourite artists like James Morrison, Vince Jones, Joe Chindamo and Nichaud Fitzgibbon will present special programs. Stalwarts of the Melbourne jazz scene like Allan Browne, Ted Vining, Tony Gould and Bob Sedergreen will continue to do what they have always done so well. Visiting artists from Sydney will include the great Bernie McGann and the celebrated ensemble, Ten Part Invention. Other highlights will range from the chance to hear exciting young talents like Sarah McKenzie, Phil Stack and Zac Hurren, to established artists like Tina Harrod, Paul Williamson and Brian Abrahams who ought to be more widely known.
Whether you are a passionate jazz fan or a newcomer to the exciting world of jazz, there are plenty of shows in this year’s program that we're sure you will enjoy.
