Pianist, composer and radio presenter (PBS 106.7FM’s Black Wax) Adam Rudegeair breaks down his musical approach which has been heavily influenced by New Orleans piano players, Minneapolis funk music, and composers such as Sun Ra, Thelonious Monk, and John Medeski. Adam will discuss his various musical projects (including The Bowie Project and Lake Minnetonka) and share stories from over 15 years on the local jazz scene. The Masterclass will also provide an opportunity to take part in a performance workshop geared toward students and aspiring jazz musicians, in which Adam will demonstrate some of his favourite composition and improvisation techniques.
